UGC NET 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the revised schedule for the UGC-NET 2024 exams, now set to take place on July 10th, 2024.
The University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) 2024 is held twice a year in India to qualify candidates for assistant professor positions, award Junior Research Fellowships, and provide opportunities for PhD enrollment across Indian universities.
The exam is scheduled for June and December. The June exam took place on June 18th, with over 900,000 candidates participating across 317 cities. However, the exam on June 19th was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. The dates have now been rescheduled, bringing relief to the candidates.
A CBI inquiry revealed that the UGC-NET exam paper was leaked on June 15th, just two days before the exam, with each paper sold for over Rs. 5 lakh.
In response to the allegations, Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated, “As soon as it was clear that the UGC-NET question paper on the darknet matched the original question paper of UGC-NET, we decided to cancel the examination. We take responsibility and need to rectify the system.”
Even a high-level committee was formed for this sake & they ensured that this examination would take place smoothly.
